Guts!

by Chris on February 18, 2010

I’m pretty fired up this morning! And that’s both a good and bad thing. It’s good because I’m a competitive S.O.B. and when it comes to business, I don’t play. It’s a bad thing, because I get so passionate about some things that I often get sidetracked – like coming and venting on my blog when I really should be gearing up for my work day. Don’t lie… you know you do it too…

I’m fired up because I’ve got choices to make. I’ve got options. And I’ve got a lot of outside opinion about these things. And ya know what? While I do value the insight and opinions of others… at the end of the day, the only things that are going to sway me in my decisions is my own GUT. A friend of mine says that is God talking, and perhaps she’s right. But I’m not here to take you down the path of faith.

One of the best ways to breed progress in any effort is to put on blinders, ignore your critics, and show some guts.

Exciting times, Mr. Jordan :-) Options are good – so is trusting your gut.

Well said, Chris. I've got to do a little “gut checking” from time to time myself. Sometimes that's all it takes just to get the ship back in the right direction but often times my lack of effort is a lack of courage.

Chris, Do NOT let the Haters get you down… No one became great listening to the people that told them they COULDN'T or WOULD NEVER be able to achieve…

Your doing great stuff in the Insurance World… So Man-Up and G.I.D (Get it Done)…

If you haven't read Blink by Malcom Gladwell, his chapter on thin slicing is right up your alley, go with your gut. BTW, all of Gladwell's book are worth a read, especially if you in marketing.

When you are going it by yourself – you bring enough doubt and criticism to the table. Just “post a sign” that only positive comments/input is accepted!

I tend to agree with your friend. My advice for what it's worth is spend some quiet time every now and then so you can hear what God may be saying and continue to forge ahead!

In the end, the old adage applies – “No guts, no glory.” Forge ahead and grab the brass ring! We're pulling for you!
